Mirela M. Derrin is a company director, a Chair of the Victorian branch of the Australian Society for Defence Engineering and a board member of Mechanical College Engineers Australia.
Mirela gained Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and Masters Degree in Engineering at University of Wollongong followed by postgraduate studies in Risk Management, Insurance and Business.
Her career commenced in Gear Industry, David Brown TEXTRON designing, testing and commissioning high speed transmission units with specialised application. Later roles included R&D in Automotive Industry, Radioactive Material Packaging Compliance in ANSTO, Pre-feasibility studies of Capital Projects in Blue Scope Steel and RODUM Investigating in DSTG and led to her intense interest in understanding and managing risk. After working in Insurance industry as a loss prevention and business risk consultant, Mirela is now running her own Risk Management Consultancy. Her interest in supporting and contributing to Australian economy, our community and engineering profession remains strong.
